If you’re in the Hell’s Kitchen district of the Big Apple during the month of May then you’re not going to want to miss the 9th Avenue Food Festival.
This raucus, colorful, delicious event is held on one weekend yearly and features international dishes from around the world. The festival and its ethnic dishes have been designed to celebrate and represent the diverse culture that has sprung up in the heart of New York City.
What to Expect
Over 200 merchants ranging from Argentinian, Brazilian, Cajun, Chinese, Cuban, Dominican, Ethiopian, French, German, Greek, Haitian, Indian, Indonesian, Irish, Italian, Japanese, Mexican, Moroccan, Pakistani, Polish, Puerto Rican, Peruvian, Senegalese, Sicilian, Southern, Spanish, Thai, Trinidadian, Turkish, Ukrainian and Vietnamese and many others line the streets surrounding 9th Avenue vending everything from handcrafted jewelry, to unique clothing, to music, to an array of arts and crafts.
Dress lightly for warm weather and enjoy the day trying different foods, listening to music, and purusing cultural hand-made goods. There’s even a children’s pavilion where your kids can hang out for the day playing games and participating in cultural activities.

Unlike most city festivals, the International Food Festival draws a large crowd and is one not to miss. The festival runs from 10am to 5pm both days and draws over a million different visitors.
